The problem with platitudes is not that they are not impeccably correct, but that they sound dorky. Parents beware!

The conservative who does not tithe believes that the Bible is the great book that
should guide someone else's life.
The liberal who does not tithe believes that he must be generous, with someone else's
money.
The moderate who does not tithe is an extremist about what he believes is his, thank
you very much and mind your own business.
When sacrifice is something we expect someone else to do for us, we have either
forgotten, or never did learn, what it is to love, and to be loved, and we are in every
way the poorest of all beings.
Every age has its own outlook. It is especially good at seeing
certain truths and specially liable to make certain mistakes. We
all, therefore, need to keep the clean sea breeze of the centuries
blowing through our minds... by reading old books.
