A Litany for the Night
Father, through your Spirit you have poured into our hearts a marvelous love.
Confident that you hear us we pray:
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
That you kindle the fire of Christian joy in the heart of every believer.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
That you inspire faith and confidence in those who preach the Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Let us be a comfort to all who are sick, fearful or desolate, that they may have
hope.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
That you give prudence to those who govern, understanding to those who teach, and
wisdom to all who seek it.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Renew our desire to serve you, Lord, and make us grateful for your redeeming love.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Bring justice, Lord, to the oppressed of the earth, and give them peace.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Help us affirm the goodness of humankind by our care for the lonely and the poor.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
That you impart the Spirit of unity and peace to those who work to reconcile nations
and races.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Deepen our respect for the world you have made and help us to live in it with
reverence.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Your Spirit forms each of us. Help us build up this community of faith by sharing
the many gifts you have entrusted to us.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
That you shelter in your everlasting love all who suffer and mourn.
Send your Spirit, Lord, and renew the earth.
Let us pray as our Lord himself taught us: Our Father…
Lord our God, in the dark of night we keep vigil and sing your praise. Make our
hearts glow with the flame of your love that never dies, and let us one day enter into
your joy, through Jesus, the Christ, our Lord. Amen.
